Passagen traces a series of elliptical pathways through Paris, London and Berlin, from the heights of tourist viewing points to the echoing corridors aroud railways… Ellard and Johnstone invite the viewer to follow a series of slowly unwinding narrative threads — from the ectasy of the aerial view to the sacrifice of underground travel. Passagen fuses the pre-cinematic spectacle of the panarama and the post-photographic technology of digital media.

Processing data — video+computer — since the technologies recognized by Benjamin - ie. photography, radio, films -  the effect contemporary technologies have on how collected information is absorbed, sifted through, shaped, presented. Freeze frames, computer manipulation, saving tiny fragments, fastforwarding and rewinding videa via the computer screen (which makes a weird mix that can't be saved), scanning photos and altering them, the files all being stored in the disks, the repository of memory being a hard disk.

Avec l'alter-ego Roberta Breitmore, fille supposée de Benjamin,  égérie de San Francisco qui disparaît dans les années '90 après avoir laissé en consigne le contenu de la malle introuvable de Benjamin depuis sa disparition en septembre 1940 à Port-Bou.

Le titre de cette exposition doit être interprété exactement dans le sens des conditions à la fois sociales et techniques.
Par conséquent, l'exposition n'est pas intitulée net.art, mais net_condition discutant les conditions sociales renforcées par le Net, aussi bien que les conditions imposées par le Net sur la société et l'art. Le Net comme globalisation est la force d'entraînement derrière une révolution économique, sociale et culturelle radicale au début de ce millénium, dont les lignes externes deviennent visibles dans cette exposition pour la première fois.
 
The title of this exhibition is to be interpreted exactly in this sense: both as a social and technical condition. Therefore, the exhibition is not entitled net.art, but net_condition as it discusses the social conditions, enforced by the Net, as well as the conditions, which the Net enforces upon society and art. The global Net is the driving force behind a radical economical, social and cultural revolution at the beginning of the next millennium, the outer lines of which become visible in this exhibition for the first time.
