Establishing an equivalence between language and space, Apartment connects the written word with the different forms of spacial configurations. On blank screens, viewers type in text of their choice. The architecture is based on an analysis of the viewers’words, reorganizing them to reflect the underlying themes they express.

Valence Ben Fry/USA. 2001.
Valence is a project that uses the properties of organic systems (things like growth, atrophy, adaptation and metabolism) as methods for building representations that are based on the interaction of many simple rules in an attempt to achieve a more telling representation. Thes representations seek to make information expressive, where organisms consume and metabolize data to provide a qualitative feel for the information it represents.
