An artist and professor in the Cinema and Média Department of Hunter College of the City University of New York, Andrea Polli works on systems of globalization, their interconnections in real time and their effects on individuals.
Ms. Polli will speak about Ground Truth, a reflection begun as part of the artist's research in Antarctica at the weather station of the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project. She analyzes the climate-observation process of scientists called "ground truthing" and evaluates to what extent we depend on these observations and how they may modify our relationship to the environment.
